It combines advances in the magnetic motor, spider, cone, whizzers, and cabinet to produce the most competent full range speaker available today. Cube has spent thousands of hours and developed hundreds of prototypes perfecting this system.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe cone and whizzers work in unison to produce the flattest possible frequency response curve from a single driver. The large 10-inch primary cone gives it bass extension down to 30 Hz, while the whizzers combine to provide highs covering 18 kHz. The three whizzers work together to not only deliver the highs but also cancels out the midrange shout generally associated with other full-range drivers. The cones and whizzers are all specially coated to make them impervious to room humidity changes.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe magnetic motor required to push a 10-inch cone is immense, luckily Cube delivered. By combining 81 smaller neodymium magnets, they were able to create a strong 2.4 Tesla field uniformly throughout the 9 mm gap. The voice coil is underhung, with a total excursion of +- 3 mm entirely within the magnetic gap. A precisely CNC milled spider keeps the voice coil dead center in the gap. This unique spider provides damping force with a linear relationship to the excursion; in other words, the damping is correct no matter the signal strength.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003ePlacing this fantastic full range driver into a well-designed transmission line cabinet provides a top to bottom balanced sound with an unbelievable soundstage. With a room-friendly 11.8” x 19.7” x 41.3” and 88 lb cabinet, these are much smaller than the music they create. The design of the bottom vent means they are not very room sensitive, making placement easier than most speakers.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e92 dB efficient with an easy to drive 8-ohm nominal impedance allows the use of many low wattage amplifiers while providing real-world listening volumes.
